Bible verses comparing God Almighty to his written word and their amazing similiarites in characteristics. Interesting coincidence or is the Lord of glory trying to tell us something about his word?


Jesus can be esteemed

(Isaiah 53:3+4) He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not. Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.

The word can be esteemed

(Job 23:12) Neither have I gone back from the commandment of his lips; I have esteemed the words of his mouth more than my necessary food.


God is faithful

(Deuteronomy 7:9) Know therefore that the LORD thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations;

The Lord is upright

(Psalms 25:8) Good and upright is the LORD: therefore will he teach sinners in the way.

The Lord is understanding

(Psalms 147:5) Great is our Lord, and of great power: his understanding is infinite. (Isaiah 40:28) Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding.

Understanding comes from the word

(Psalms 119:169) Let my cry come near before thee, O LORD: give me understanding according to thy word.


You can depart from God

(Psalms 18:21) For I have kept the ways of the LORD, and have not wickedly departed from my God.

We are to respect God

(Isaiah 17:7) At that day shall a man look to his Maker, and his eyes shall have respect to the Holy One of Israel.

Jesus is from the begining

(John 1:1+2) In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God.

Men do not seek after God

(Psalms 14:1-3) To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good. The LORD looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God. They are all gone aside, they are all together become filthy: there is none that doeth good, no, not one.

Men do not seek the word

(Psalms 119:155) Salvation is far from the wicked: for they seek not thy statutes.


Men want to be far from God

(Isaiah 17:13) The nations shall rush like the rushing of many waters: but God shall rebuke them, and they shall flee far off, and shall be chased as the chaff of themountains before the wind, and like a rolling thing before the whirlwind.

(Psalms 119:150) They draw nigh that follow after mischief: they are far from thy law.


The Lord is wonderful

(Isaiah 9:6) For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

(Psalms 119:129) Thy testimonies are wonderful: therefore doth my soul keep them.


The Lord is our rejoicing

(1 Corinthians 15:31) I protest by your rejoicing which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord, I die daily.

(Psalms 119:111) Thy testimonies have I taken as an heritage for ever: for they are the rejoicing of my heart.


The Lord can make you to understand

(Proverbs 28:5) Evil men understand not judgment: but they that seek the LORD understand all things.

God makes us wiser

(Job 35:10+11) But none saith, Where is God my maker, who giveth songs in the night; Who teacheth us more than the beasts of the earth, and maketh us wiser than the fowls of heaven?

You should fear the Lord

(Leviticus 25:17) Ye shall not therefore oppress one another; but thou shalt fear thy God: for I am the LORD your God. (Proverbs 1:7) The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

You should fear the word

(Deuteronomy 28:58) If thou wilt not observe to do all the words of this law that are written in this book, that thou mayest fear this glorious and fearful name, THE LORD THY GOD;


The Lord can be chosen

(Joshua 24:22) And Joshua said unto the people, Ye are witnesses against yourselves that ye have chosen you the LORD, to serve him. And they said, We are witnesses.

The Lord God is holy

(Leviticus 20:26) And ye shall be holy unto me: for I the LORD am holy, and have severed you from other people, that ye should be mine.(1 Samuel 6:20) And the men of Bethshemesh said, Who is able to stand before this holy LORD God? and to whom shall he go up from us?(Psalms 99:9) Exalt the LORD our God, and worship at his holy hill; for the LORD our God is holy.
