Biblebelievers.com learned on 1 October 2004 that the former pastor of Maineville Baptist Church of Maineville, OH, Steve Harmon, admitted to sexually molesting six children after being confronted by police. He was indicted Monday, 11 October 2004, on felony charges of sexually molesting two boys on church property. He is being held in the Warren County Jail on $500,000 bond.
We immediately removed all articles and sermons by Steve Harmon and wish to express our sincere sorrow for the children harmed and the church that he pastored.
May the Lord Jesus Christ help those who may be spiritually shipwrecked over this horrible news. These things can be a great occasion for the enemy to blaspheme. Keep your eyes on Jesus and his Holy word.
A statement released by Maineville Baptist Church:
"We are deeply saddened and greatly outraged at the events that have come to light regarding the former pastor, Steve Harmon. It is hard for anyone to understand how someone could do these things; especially someone supposed to lead us in our faith.
"Our faith stands strong and we believe that God has a plan, even in these terrible times. We fully support and cooperate with the legal system and expect that justice will be done. Our prayers and support go out to the victims, as they struggle to overcome."
