1st Quarter Lessons
  1. Introducing THRU THE BIBLE with BOOT THE MULE
The opening lesson in this curriculum gives the children an overview of the Bible, and teaches them that studying God's Word should bring changes in their behavior.
We teach the children two new songs in this lesson:
    •   The opening song for each lesson, A Servant with a Teachable Heart, based upon II Timothy 2:15.
    •   The Talking Mule, sung by Boot the Mule as he tells the story of his distant ancestor mentioned in Numbers 22, the only talking animal in history.
In this first lesson we are introduced to Boot the Mule's aunt, Mrs. Gloria VanderBoot, the world's foremost authority on mule manners.

  2. Before the Beginning Began to Begin
This lesson teaches the children about "the mystery of time," and helps them understand that God existed before time and is everlasting.
Boot the Mule sings two new songs in this lesson:
    •   Boot the Mule's Official Book of Mule History and Behavior, the welcome song that Boot sings with the children at the opening of each puppet skit.
    •   Before the Beginning Began to Begin, a song that teaches Who existed before time began.
In this lesson we are introduced to two new puppet characters, Smithfield the Swine and Oscar the Pig.

  3. God Made Everything (Including the Potato!)
This lesson on creation teaches the children to listen to and obey God, the Creator of all things.
We introduce two new songs in this lesson:
    •   The Potato Song, a creation song about one of Boot's favorite foods.
    •   The First Three Days of Creation, a creation song that teaches what God created on these days to help children grow.

  4. Which Came First -- The Chicken or the Egg?
This lesson continues our study of creation, and encourages the children to make Jesus the most important person in their life.
During the puppet skit, Boot the Mule sings the classic song Which Came First -- The Chicken or the Egg?

  5. Adam and Eve and the Animals
In this lesson, the children will learn about Adam and Eve, the Garden of Eden, and the love of God.
We will be introduced this lesson to a new character, the first mule in history, George the Mule. During the puppet skit, George will sing his favorite song about the Garden of Eden, Adam and Eve and the Animals.

  6. The Slimy Serpent
This lesson tells the story of the worst day in human history, and teaches the children that submitting to sin and the Devil only brings a curse.
During the puppet skit, George the Mule and Eve have a confrontation with the Devil.

  7. Paradise Lost . . . and Found
This lesson continues the re-enactment of the terrible events in the Garden of Eden, and teaches the children that sin banishes them from the presence and blessings of God.
During the puppet skit, Oscar the Pig comes face to face with the Devil.

  8. The First Volunteer
This lesson re-enacts that dreadful day when Adam and Eve and the animals were banished from the Garden of Eden. The goal of this lesson is for the children to learn the importance of volunteering and serving the Lord.
During the puppet skit, George the Mule, the first volunteer to help Adam plow God's green Earth, will sing his theme song, Hitch Up That Mule.

  9. Blueprint for Noah's Ark
In this lesson, we are introduced to a man who walked with God in a world of wickedness, Noah the Arkbuilder. The goal of this lesson is to teach the children that just as God gave a blueprint to Noah for building the Ark, God has a blueprint for everyone's life.
During the puppet skit, Noah the Arkbuilder will re-enact the day when God spoke to him and told him to build the Ark.

  10. Stubbornway
In this lesson, we re-enact the day when all of the animals boarded Noah's Ark. We will be introduced to Mrs. Mule and her husband, a stubborn mule who had to be dragged onto Noah's Ark. During the puppet skit, Noah, Mrs. Mule, and Oscar the Pig will sing the saga entitled Stubbornway.
The goal of this lesson is to teach the children to develop a submissive spirit, not a stubborn spirit.

  11. Catastrophe
This lesson continues the story of Noah's Ark, and tells of the day that God closed the door to the Ark. During the puppet skit, Mrs. VanderBoot and Mrs. Mule will re-enact the Great Flood using a squirt gun. When a stampede occurs on Noah's Ark, Mrs. Mule saves the day!
The goal of this lesson is to teach the children how to bring peace and harmony into the church and home.

  12. The Rules of the Ark
In this lesson, Mrs. Mule continues her re-enactment of her experiences on Noah's Ark. During the puppet skit, she teaches the children her theme song, The Rules of the Ark.
The goal of this lesson is to teach the children that they need to follow the rules of God.

  13. Disembark the Ark
In this lesson, we conclude the dramatic story of Noah's Ark. In the puppet skit, after Oscar the Pig sings the sea-sick Stubbornway's song, Let Me Off of the Boat, Mrs. Mule leads all of the animals off the Ark in her farewell song, Disembark the Ark.
The goal of this lesson is to teach the children that there is a beautiful rainbow at the end of the darkest storm.
